Cliff Smyth

I have been a coach for almost 10 years. I enjoy helping people clarify what they want to achieve or improve in their lives, identify barriers and how to overome them, and plan for finding more of what they want in their lives.

For the last 26 years I have worked with individuals as a Feldenkrais Method practitioner helping people recover functional abilities and become aware of themselves through embodied learning. I have also served all my adult life on variety of boards of non-profit organizations, including twelve years on the Board of the International Feldenkrais Federation, six of those as President.

I have spent my entire professional life working with people as a teacher, group facilitator, somatic educator and leader. I trained and worked as a high school teacher, taught writing for many years, and worked in the arts and community development.

As a coach and leader, I have particular experience helping people involved in human services and health care, the arts, the non-profit sector and professional associations.

In addition to doing Feldenkrais for my own well being, I practice mindfulness meditation and Yoga Nidra, and teach a variety of mind-body practices such as guided imagery and autogenics.

I was born and lived in Melbourne, Australia, until I moved to live in San Francisco in 1996. I like exploring new places. I have travelled extensively for my professional work and interest. I am a husband, father and grandfather,

I draw on all this training and experience in shaping the coaching process for each individual client. My clients tell me they appreciate my:

  • in-depth listening
  • insight into their deep life patterns and important values
  • creative ideas and approaches
  • positive appreciation, support and encouragement.
